A few weeks ago AMD announced three new CPUs: the Ryzen 5 3600XT, Ryzen 7 3800XT, and Ryzen 9 3900XT. Today they have been officially released! You may have some difficulty finding them this early, but we found units available on Newegg. As of this writing they are the only retailer we could find with the new chips in stock.

The new XT series is slightly more powerful, boasting improved architecture and up to a 100MHz higher clock speed. AnandTech has had their hands on some models for a little while and posted benchmarks. The XT series is up to 3% faster than the original models, so we’re not seeing a huge difference.

But what is a major change is the huge price difference thanks to these new CPUs. The Ryzen 9 3900 was going for $499, which is what the 3900XT goes for. Now the 3900 is selling for $429. The 3800XT is selling for $399, and the 3800X is now just $319. And for the more price conscious, the 3600XT is $249…and the 3600 is a staggering $174!!

Normally, the crew at CoolNation goes wild for new components for how much faster and more powerful they are. In this case, it’s because of how hot the CPU wars are getting. Intel has held a big lead over underdog AMD for a decade. As AMD closes the gap, these massive price drops on excellent processors is just what many need to make the switch.
